Over the last two years, Steelcraft’s QCI Division has invested more than $5 million in new equipment and facilities to allow the division to better serve our heavy equipment manufacturing clients.
2012 equipment investments include: a Horizontal Boring Mill, Vertical Turret Lathe, Hi-Definition Plasma cutting machine with bevelling capability, two robot systems for the division’s Stratford, Ontario location and a new large Horizontal Boring Mill for QCI’s Woodstock, Ontario location. Equipment installation and set up is proceeding on plan with some machinery now up and operating, including the HBM, Hi Definition Plasma and the two Fanuc Robots. The Viper VTL – Vertical Turret lathe with live tooling is expected to arrive in mid-April with the target start up date for machining of end housings set for April 30th. The large HBM for QCI’s Woodstock location is scheduled for delivery in late May with final installation and start-up slated for June.
QCI Division has also completed its 2011 capital investments including a building expansion in its Woodstock facility to accommodate the new paint and grit blast facilities, and the installation of a new Pro-Mix paint system for the Cambridge location, permitting the switch to 45 gallon drums to enable full utilization of the new Paint facility.
Thanks to the entire QCI team for powering through this major equipment upgrade. The investment we have made over this time period will allow us to service our existing customer requirements, and attract new customers.
