Steelcraft QCI Division has brought home an award for an Outstanding Presentation from Komatsu’s 2012 North American Quality Conference, an annual event held in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Using the seven principles outlined in the Komatsu Way (K-Way), Steelcraft QCI and other suppliers were given a quality challenge to solve, and were then required to present their powerpoint outline at the conference to a panel of five judges from the Komatsu organization. For this year’s event, Steelcraft QCI were given the problem of “axle housing cost reduction,” and competed against other suppliers and internal Komatsu teams for one of the top four presentation awards. This is the second time the Steelcraft QCI team has won an award for an Outstanding Presentation.
Komatsu, one of Steelcraft QCI’s most strategic customers, began operations in 1921 in Komatsu City Japan. Today, the company employs 34,500 with overseas sales reaching 70% of total sales. The Komatsu Way incorporates what the company wants to sustain on a global scale and the company’s desire to continue these efforts through generation to generation to remain successful in the heavy equipment industry.
