This position has full accountability for sales and margin performance against agreed-upon targets within the industrial processing market segment.  This position also involves identifying and executing against new market and product opportunities.

70% Sales functions include: 

  • Drive sales growth of autoclaves, custom fabrications, mixing systems, pressure vessels and tanks to both existing customers and new prospects
  • Review and analyze technical project specifications and RFQ bid packages to develop commercial and technical proposals that meet customer project requirements
  • Assist in the development of market-based sales and pricing strategies.
  • Assist in the development of market-based promotional activities to support sales efforts.

30% Estimating functions in order of priority include:

  • Leverage in-house estimating tools to develop costing for standardized products
  • Complete manufacturing task analyses to estimate labour costs for customized products
  • Collaborate with suppliers to compile material and outside service costs for customized products

Focused Responsibilities

  • Visit customers and prospects to identify and support new projects (20-40% day travel required)
  • Complete detailed technical reviews of customer applications and bid packages and collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Quality to evaluate and assess project feasibility and risk
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline and track progress in the company’s CRM system
  • Collect information on competitor activities and shop capacities where appropriate to identify risks to current business and maximize new business win rates
  • Enter orders in the company’s ERP system as per company guidelines.
  • Complete all internal sales documentation as required.

Who you are and what you have to offer:

  • Post-secondary education required.
  • Minimum of 5 years sales experience coupled with design/estimating experience in the steel fabrication industry.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of tools and CAD programs.
  • Willing to travel for day trips (20-40%), overnight trips (once/quarter); potential international travel to the US.
  • You are passionate, results-driven and a self-starter. You are confident, resilient and a true hunter.
  • You are creative, innovative, adaptable, and capable of embracing technology
  • You are articulate and business-savvy and can balance customer needs vs business needs.
  • You can build strong relationships and effectively influence stakeholders at various levels
  • You can seek out new customers and translate opportunities into concrete financial results
  • You have a process discipline mindset;
  • Nice-to-have – familiarity with ASME code and mechanical design calculations
  • Nice-to-have – experience with chemical equipment systems, pumps, valves, piping, and controls
