The Position

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Technologist who will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of customer design products into manufacturing including managing the project through to completion. The Manufacturing Engineer will also assist in the development of efficient manufacturing methods, jigs, fixtures and performance cost analysis proposals.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Develop efficient manufacturing methods for production.
  • Maintain customer revision and internal engineering changes.
  • Communicate with customer & suppliers about design issues and manufacturability.
  • Develop Flat views for programming cutting and forming of piece parts.
  • Create work instructions / manufacturing process for products.
  • Maintain current rev. in Engineering files, customer-engineering changes.
  • Analyze and develop solutions for non-conforming parts or discrepancies that may arise during a project.
  • Input on proposals for methods, equipment improvements and modifications.
  • Conduct research into cost, properties of production materials and methods of production.
  • Maintain compliance with company quality assurance procedures, government health & Safety Regulations and product liability regulations.
  • Analyze the intended use of product and customer preferences.

  • Supply information and support to outside services (i.e. Subcontract operations)
  • Supply detailed information to purchasing for specialty items.
  • Design and develop fixtures & tooling to improve manufacturing techniques, processes, reliability and frequent use.
  • Supervise the implementation of machinery (boring mills, vertical lathes etc.)
  • Create and maintain bills of material in the company database.
  • Provide support, knowledge & expertise to guide and educate other members of the engineering department, including co-op students.

Your Skills Set

  • You have a College diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • You have a minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment with fabricated and machined components.
  • You have practical knowledge of Industrial Processes (machining, welding, and metal working processes industry related.)
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project
  • You have CAD/CAM knowledge (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MasterCam preferred)
  • You have experience in Lean/5S methodology
  • You have the ability to function effectively in a team environment, set priorities and meet prescribed deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ideally, you have experience supplying the Military in a Controlled Goods environment
